    26.08.2026: Orphan and Divyang girls, women sanitation workers and women from various walks of life met Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and tied Rakhi to him on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. The Governor said that Raksha Bandhan is a sacred festival that brings together people from all sections of society. He said he was very happy to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with women and girls who are making noteworthy contributions in different spheres of society. Orphan girls from Mamata Bal Sadan, an institution established by the late Sindhutai Sapkal for orphaned and underprivileged girls at Purandar in Pune district, tied Rakhi to the Governor. Deepak Gaikwad, Chairman of the institution, and Mukesh Choudhary, Liaison Officer, were also present. Women employees working in the Solid Waste Management Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), along with ASHA workers and community health volunteers, also tied Rakhi to the Governor. Tribal women from Palghar district who have become self-sufficient by making bamboo products under the ‘Seva Vivek’ Gram Vikas Kendra tied an eco-friendly Rakhi to the Governor. Lukesh Band, Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, was present on the occasion. Brahma Kumaris led by Brahma Kumari Rukmini, also tied Rakhi to the Governor and conveyed a spiritual message.     25.08.2026: Justice Sunil Balkrishna Shukre, former Judge of the Bombay High Court was sworn in as the new Chairman of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution. Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to Justice Sunil Shukre at a brief oath taking ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. The oath was given as per Section VI of the newly passed Maharashtra Lokayukta Act, 2023. The appointment of Justice Shukre has been made for a period of 5 years or till he attains the age of 70, whichever is earlier. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Adv. Rahul Narwekar, MLA Bhaskar Jadhav, outgoing Lokayukta Justice (retd) Vidyasagar Kanade, Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggaral, Members of the Lokayukta Institution, Justice Sandeep Shinde, Lokayukta of Goa, State Chief Information Commissioner Rahul Pande and senior government officers were present. Earlier, the Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware read out the notification regarding the appointment of Justice Shukre.     24.08.2026: Members of the Maharashtra State Chapter of the Association of Physicians of India led by Dr Agam Vora, Honorary Secretary today met the Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma and presented to him two Medical Publications of National Relevance at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. The first publication presented to the Governor titled 'Unified Consensus on Adult Immunization 2026' has been brought out by the Indian Medical Association with 23 different medical societies. The second book presented to the Governor is titled 'COPD Compass 2026' which is a Comprehensive Guide to COPD Management in India. It contains recommendations from a Panel of Experts on the Management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in India. Dr Rakesh Badade, Dr Milind Nadkar, Dr Amit Saraf, Dr Jaysh Lele, Ashutosh Pande and Swati Dalal, MD, Zydus Healthcare were among those present.
