    19.08.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today inaugurated the '10 Crore Nasha Mukti Pratigya Maha Abhiyan' organised by the Brahma Kumaris at Patkar Hall of SNDT Women's University in Mumbai. The Governor administered the Nasha Mukti Pledge to hundreds of students from various colleges assembled on the occasion and flagged off the .Nasha Mukti Abhiyan Van. Minister of Skill Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Rajyogini Santosh Didi, Joint Administrative Head of Brahma Kumaris, B K Banarasi Lal, Head of Medical Wing of Brahma Kumaris, Secretary to the Governor Dr Prashant Narnaware, Vice Chancellor of SNDT Women's University Prof Ujwala Chakradeo and Vice Chancellor of HSNC University Dr Hemlata Bagla, Brahma Kumaris from various centres and students were present. The Brahma Kumaris Mumbai launched the Maha Abhiyan to create a nationwide movement against drug and substance abuse, particularly among youth, by encouraging people to take a pledge to remain free from addiction.

    19.08.2026: A group of principals of various public schools in Delhi and eminent educationists, led by Dr. Alka Kapur, Principal, Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, met the Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma, at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai.     18.08.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today witnessed the special screening of the trailer of the film Chand Tara at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said a ruler creating a monument for a singer  itself is a unique story. He applauded the director for creating the ambience of the 17th century in the film. 
The film Chand Tara which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival has been  produced by noted film director and producer Mohammad Ali Baig. It  is based on the legendary singer Taramati and Golkonda Sultan Abdullah Qutub Shah. The King had built the monument 'Taramati Baradari' as a tribute to the famed singer. Dr Mohan Agashe, Rohini Hattangadi, Aanjjan Srivastava, Ranjana Srivastava, Ila Arun, Arif Zakaria were among those who attended the special screening.

    16.08.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today presided over the 3rd Convocation Ceremony of the COEP Technological University and presented Gold Medals to 10 toppers at the University Auditorium in Pune.The Governor awarded gold medals to 10 meritorious graduates while Rank Certificates were presented to 30 graduates who secured first rank. Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil announced the construction of a 400-capacity hostel for female students at the university.
Chairman of the University’s Board of Governance Vinayak Pai; Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware, Vice Chancellor of COEP Technological University Dr. Sunil Bhirud, Vice-Chancellor of SPPU Prof. Suresh Gosavi, Registrar of COEP Dr. Dayaram Sonawane, and Director of Examination and Evaluation Yashodhara Haribhakt were present. At the convocation, 889 graduates were awarded undergraduate degrees, while 582 graduates received postgraduate degrees.

    14.08.2026: Justice Surendra Pandharinath Tavade, Retired Judge of the Bombay High Court was today sworn in as a Judicial Member of Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to Justice Tavade. Justice Suvarna Kishore Keole, retired Chief District Judge was also sworn in as a Judicial Member of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution.  Retired Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash Gupta and retired Director General of Police of Maharashtra Rashmi Shukla were also sworn in as Other than Judicial Members of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Lokayukta Justice Vidyasagar Kanade (retd),  Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal and senior government officers were present.
